Description

The wearing of a new prosthesis may be associated with some complaints especially shortly after the insertion of the denture. The complaints may be lack of retention and stability, pain or discomfort, accumulation of food under the denture, altered speech, difficulty in chewing, unsatisfactory appearance, and wrenching. Successful outcome of complete dentures is determined by a balanced outcome between the clinical procedure, laboratory process and patient acceptance.
There is a huge difference in the magnitude and number of the complaints from patient to patient, many of which may arise at a later stage. Some of these complaints can be minimized, a few can be eliminated and some for which the dentist and the patient must contend with. Denture placement is not the last stage of complete denture fabrication process. Post insertion adjustments are important clinical phase following fabrication and insertion of a complete denture.
This book is a comprehensive review of the problems faced by the patients after insertion of complete and removable partial dentures and the measures which can be taken by the dentist to solve and minimize those problems for better dental care and success of the prosthesis.
